Dolphins trade rumor involving Pro Bowl playmaker could lead to deal with Giants, Seahawks or Steelers

The Miami Dolphins traded star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, but the team may not be done moving its core pieces.

Omar Kelly of The Miami Herald believes Miami could also trade running back De'Von Achane, and adds that the Dolphins are committing to a rebuild.

"Don’t be surprised if De’Von Achane is traded too," Kelly said. "This thing is going to the studs."

Achane had a breakout 2025 campaign, tallying 1,350 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, while also adding 488 yards and four touchdowns through the air.

The 24-year-old is an ascending player who would net the Dolphins a nice return on the trade market, and it could come from the New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks, or Pittsburgh Steelers.

New York has added a bunch of talent to their offense this offseason, including tight end Isaiosh Likely and wide receiver Darnell Mooney.

Trading for Achane would give the Giants some explosiveness in the backfield, and the Texas A&M product would also form a scary duo with Cam Skattebo, who showed a ton of promise during his rookie season before going down with a dislocated ankle.

Seattle has a need at running back after Kenneth Walker departed for the Kansas City Chiefs. Achane would be an electric fit in the Seahawks' offense and would actually be an upgrade over Walker.

Pittsburgh also lost its 2025 starting running back, Kenneth Gainwell, in free agency to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Though Rico Dowdle, Jaylen Warren, and Kaleb Johnson are a solid running back room, there's no denying Achane would add some much-needed speed and big-play ability to Mike McCarthy's offense.

Trading a young, budding superstar player in Achane wouldn't be a logical move by the Dol[hins, but with the franchise in rebuild mode, it could happen.
