Dolphins to sign former Eagles, Patriots, Chiefs veteran pass rusher to one-year deal

This offseason, the Miami Dolphins and new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan have been making major changes to the roster.

They've parted ways with multiple big players, including Tua Tagovailoa, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Tyreek Hill, and pass rusher Bradley Chubb. They've added Malik Willis to replace Tagovailoa, but they could still use more help at those other spots.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, they've landed their next target in a pass rusher formerly with the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, and New England Patriots in veteran edge rusher Joshua Uche.

Dolphins to sign Joshua Uche to a one-year deal

"Former Eagles edge Joshua Uche is signing a one-year deal with the Dolphins, per agents Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln," Schefter reports.

Uche is a 27-year-old veteran pass rusher who's an interesting pickup for the Dolphins. While he didn't have the best season for the Eagles, he's shown some intrigue as a top-tier pass rusher at times in his career.

Back in 2022 with the Patriots, Uche had 11.5 sacks in a breakout season. But, in the next three seasons, he recorded just six total sacks, including one sack in 12 games for the Eagles this past season.

Despite being on the Chiefs and Eagles, he's only been in the playoffs one time in his career, and it came back in 2021 with the Patriots.

Uche has shown potential in his career, but he's not been able to live up to the hype. However, while he might not bring the same juice as Chubb did in the pass rush department, he's a high-upside flier for the Dolphins to take this offseason.

While the team is trying to keep spending down with Tagovailoa's nearly $100 million dead cap hit, a cheap one-year rental for Uche is the exact kind of deal worth doing for Miami.
