Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa's contract pays him extra money if he stays healthy

Tua Tagovailoa has struggled with availability during his NFL career.

He knows it, and so do the Miami Dolphins.

That's what makes Tagovailoa's contract incentives so telling.

Each incentive involves a win, per Spotrac. There's $250K to be had for a wild card win. Then it's $500K apiece to win in the divisional round and the conference champoinship.

And if Tua and the Dolphins bring home the Super Bowl, he earns an extra $1 million.

But there's a catch: Tagovailoa doesn't earn any of those paydays unless he plays 50% of the regular season snaps.

Tua obviously would take those big wins even if he missed most of the season, and so would the Dolphins.

But the contract incentivizes a healthy Tagovailoa, something that hasn't been a given.

Maybe it'll be enough to somehow keep him out of harm's way and give Miami a chance at a deep postseason run behind the left arm of Tagovailoa.
