Warriors expected to sign one of the top available free agents, 6’9” stretch five

The Golden State Warriors have been entirely silent this free agency period. However, that doesn’t mean nothing’s happening. Behind the scenes, there’s still buzz. The most reliable Warriors rumors suggest Golden State isn’t done yet and could still land some big names before the offseason’s over.

NBA insider Marc Stein recently joined the Willard & Dibs show and gave some insight on the Warriors' free agency targets.

“My expectation is that one way or the other, the Warriors are going to end up with both Horford and Melton on their roster. [And] they still have interest in Bradley Beal."

The Warriors and Al Horford have been linked since the beginning of free agency. Although he still hasn’t signed, many insiders and NBA executives are expecting Horford to become a Warrior within the next few days.

Horford isn’t going to solve all of the Warriors' problems. He will be 40 years old next season and has absolutely lost a step.

That being said, can he start at center for most of the regular season and give Draymond Green’s body a bit of rest? Absolutely.

He also should be able to provide key spacing that the Warriors have been dying for. The Warriors are going to need it, too. They are already starting Jimmy Butler and Green, neither are excellent three-point shooter.

Horford is a career 36.4% three-point shooter. His numbers took a dip last year, but the two years before, he shot over 40% from deep. With Curry on the court, you know Horford is going to get some great looks.

If Horford can stay healthy and hasn’t lost too much of a step on defense, he will be a game-changer for the Warriors.
