Dolphins' Ollie Gordon draft pick is perfect low-risk, high-reward choice behind De'Von Achane

The Miami Dolphins just drafted one of the most intriguing players in the entire 2025 class.

Ollie Gordon out of Oklahoma State, a running back, was once supposed to go so much higher than No. 179 overall in the sixth round.

Before this fall, many viewed him as the 2025 group's possible RB1, someone who could really make his way into the first-round conversation.

Then everything went wrong.

Gordon didn't have a bad year, but Oklahoma State really struggled and he paid the price.

He finished with 880 rushing yards (4.6 ypc) and 13 TDs.

But a look at his 2023 stats show how good he can be.

Gordon went for 1,732 yards as a sophomore (6.1 ypc) and 21 touchdowns. He also had 39 catches for 330 yards.

That's the player the Dolphins hope they get.

Injuries and team struggles are at least partially to blame for Gordon's 2024 struggles.

Could playing in a legit NFL offense help him thrive again?

He won't have to do it all, because the Dolphins have the explosive De'Von Achane.

But as a possible second back, Gordon is the perfect fit. He cost almost nothing, and if he lives up even a bit to his pedigree from the past, he could be an absolute steal.
