Dolphins lose key defender to season-ending knee injury

The Miami Dolphins were able to secure a surprisingly dominant victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, 34-10.

But it didn't come without a loss.

Cornerback Storm Duck, who had been a rotational defender in Miami's depleted secondary, will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, according to head coach Mike McDaniel.

Dolphins lose CB Storm Duck for season with knee injury

"Dolphins CB Storm Duck will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury he suffered during Sunday's game, Mike McDaniel said," wrote ESPN Dolphins insider Marcel Louis-Jacques in a post on X.

Duck will be Miami's third cornerback since July to be placed on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury, joining Artie Burns and Kader Kohou.

The Dolphins were already thin in the secondary, and may need to acquire more depth through trade or signing.

Duck, a former undrafted free agent out of Louisville, is in his second year with Miami.

He appeared in 14 games last season, starting three and registering 35 tackles along with four pass breakups, providing excitement for his sophomore season in the NFL.

Unfortunately, this season will be cut short for Duck, and the Dolphins are without another cornerback.

Ethan Bonner, Kendall Sheffield, and JuJu Brents will be expected to fill while Miami searches for more depth at the position.

We could even see defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick see more snaps at cornerback, a position he played in college at Alabama.
