The Miami Dolphins have been very busy this offseason, just like a lot of the other top teams across the NFL. However, their offseason hasn't been the same as those big spenders.
Instead, the Dolphins have been cutting a lot of players, like Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Bradley Chubb, and even trading away someone like Minkah Fitzpatrick.
After the first week of free agency, Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report has a 1-word description for the Dolphins' offseason, and it's a brutally honest assessment of where the Dolphins are as a franchise heading into 2026.
Dolphins given brutally honest 1-word assessment of offseason moves
"Miami Dolphins: Reset," Ballentine writes. "The Dolphins will have to eat their salary cap vegetables with dead cap charges of $89.6 million before Tua Tagovailoa's historic $99.2 million dead cap hit is factored in. At least Malik Willis is exciting."
So far this offseason, the Dolphins have cut ties with Fitzpatrick, Chubb, Hill, and Tagovailoa. They have added a few players, most notably Malik Willis, on a $67.5 million three-year contract.
It's a big risk, but with where the roster is at, taking a big swing at quarterback is worth it. They've also added a few other notable players, signing Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell, and re-signing Greg Dulcich.

There have been other additions, but the majority of their signings have been depth pickups. With very limited resources, the Dolphins don't have the luxury of being big spenders.
As Ballentine described it, this offseason, and the theme for the next year for the Dolphins, will be all about a "reset."
It's not a bad thing, but it is a brutally honest assessment of where the Dolphins are at. A reset year isn't fun for the fans, as, barring Willis being an incredible quarterback, there won't be much competition going on in 2026 for the Dolphins.
This upcoming season is a reset year, and the "reset" 1-word description of the Dolphins' offseason is a brutally honest way of looking at the Dolphins' roster moves through the first week of the new league year.
