This offseason for the Miami Dolphins is going to be one of change. They've already adjusted their organization, bringing in Jeff Hafley to be the head coach and Jon-Eric Sullivan to be the new general manager.
Those two will bring in a new era of Dolphins football, with the future of Tua Tagovailoa being one of the more pressing and immediate issues they're expected to address.
But, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, wide receiver Tyreek Hill is a huge decision waiting for the Dolphins, with a looming $16 million decision and deadline, making the WR's future in Miami, as of now, very unlikely.
Tyreek Hill's Dolphins future unlikely amid $16M deadline
"As for wide receiver Tyreek Hill, he also has a trigger on March 13th, $16 million would be locked in," Pelissero. He is coming off a major injury; it is unclear at this point when or even if Tyreek will be ready to play in 2026. The health, plus his age at 32, plus the money, all would point to Tyreek, at least for now, being out in Miami."

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 8, 2026The Dolphins moving on from Hill wouldn't be a surprise this offseason, and this update from Pelissero makes it clear that, with the $16 million decision looming for March 13th, the Dolphins are expected to part with Hill this offseason.
He's 32 years old, coming off a very serious injury, and has some massive red flags going forward with his game coming off this injury.
Combined with a massive contract that can be gotten out of before March 13th without losing a ton of money, the decision for Miami has been all but made.

Unless Hill agrees to a restructured deal that pays him a lot less than normal, he's most likely going to be cut this offseason.
Pelissero's update makes it clear that, barring any such significant change for Hill and his contract, the Dolphins and their new front office will be moving on from Hill this offseason.
His trade value is almost zero, so their best option will be to cut Hill and begin retooling in the wide receiver room with Jaylen Waddle as the top WR going forward.
Dolphins fans should expect Hill not to be on the roster next year, and the same goes for Tagovailoa. Change is coming for Miami, and the $16 million deadline for Hill on March 13th makes it clear when the Dolphins will make a decision.
