We have our first big roster cut of the 2025 offseason and the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers should all take note.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Dolphins are cutting veteran edge rusher Bradley Chubb.
If the move is a regular cut and not a post-June 1 move, which this appears to be, the Dolphins will incur a dead-cap hit of $23.8 million while saving just $7.3 million, per Over The Cap.
We mention the Bills, Cowboys, Eagles and 49ers because all four teams will be in the market for an edge rusher this offseason and Chubb might draw their interest.
In Buffalo, Joey Bosa is a pending free agent and after fading in the second half of last season, it's possible the Bills will look for someone else to play opposite Greg Rousseau.
The 49ers had the fewest sacks in the NFL last season and need more juice opposite Nick Bosa, who is a concern in and of himself because he's coming off a torn ACL.
The Eagles acquired Jaelan Phillips at the trade deadline to beef up their pass-rush, but Phillips is a pending free agent and even if Philly does re-sign him, there's still more work to be done at the position.
The Cowboys have the most dire need along the edge. They never replaced Micah Parsons and on top of needing an alpha at the position, Dallas needs more depth.
Chubb has always been a productive edge rusher when healthy, as he's posted 7.5 sacks or more in five of seven seasons, including in 2025 when he had 8.5 in 17 games.
But there are multiple concerns with Chubb. His career has been marred by injury (2025 was his first season in which he didn't miss a single game) and he's now set to turn 30 in 2026.
That will no doubt impact his market, but Chubb should still do very well based on the fact that he plays a premium position and is likely to draw plenty of interest.
We would bet the Niners, Bills, Cowboys and Eagles will be among the teams interested.
