F1 fans online have shared their reaction to Oscar Piastri crashing out of the Brazilian GP Sprint on Saturday, with many left questioning what this means for his hopes of winning the drivers' world championship. The McLaren man is not going to score any points in the session, while Lando Norris is currently first as the sprint halts under a red flag.
Due to his poor form recently, Oscar Piastri now finds himself one point behind teammate Lando Norris in the drivers' championship, who won the recently concluded race in Mexico City. Coming into Brazil, it was absolutely pivotal for Piastri to keep up with Norris to maintain his charge for a first world title.
But the 24-year-old has now suffered a massive setback. Piastri went onto the curb in Turn 3 on Lap 6 of the race, and lost control of his McLaren, crashing into the outside wall. This crash caused terminal damage to his car, ending his race then and there.
F1 fans online shared their reactions to this moment, alluding to how huge this could be in the drivers' championship battle.

Nico Hulkenberg and Franco Colapinto crash in the same spot as Oscar Piastri during the Brazilian GP Sprint
Oscar Piastri, Nico Hulkenberg and Franco Colapinto crash at Turn 3 - Brazilian GP Sprint - Source: GettyIn a bizarre series of incidents, Nico Hulkenberg and Franco Colapinto crashed at the exact same corner as Oscar Piastri during the Brazilian GP Sprint. This was seemingly due to the puddle of water at Turn 3 of the Interlagos circuit, which caught all three drivers out.
Shortly after Piastri's crash, Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber also came crashing into the same barrier, leading to damage to both his front and rear wings. Seconds after, Franco Colapinto also came flying into the same corner, and crashed into the barriers.
While Piastri and Colapinto could not continue, Hulkenberg was able to limp his way back to the pits. The Sauber crew managed to replace his front and rear wings, thanks to the Red Flag that came out. The veteran joined the group in P18.
After the incident, Kimi Antonelli came over the team radio to explain that it was actually Lando Norris who went over the curb in Turn 3, and kicked some of the water onto the track, leading to all three of these incidents.
