LA Knight’s booking in WWE in the past few weeks has been quite underwhelming. Despite getting incredible crowd reactions, the star has suffered massive losses and has been given limited promo time. WWE creative, rather than giving him the push that fans want to see, often uses him to elevate others instead.
LA Knight may have landed himself in hot water after an unplanned moment on RAW recently. During his entrance on last week’s edition of the show, the star grabbed a fan sign that stated “We want LA Knight, not Jey Uso” and showed it on camera. This bold move was reportedly not approved by WWE officials.
This meant a lot ahead of the World Heavyweight Championship match Jey Uso was getting against CM Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event, which had already been quite the controversy online, with fans questioning WWE’s decision to put Jey in the title picture once again. Knight made his entrance to face Bron Breakker that night and ended up with a loss. However, fans felt that following his bold move, he would be getting punished by the creative even further.
During a recent Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful addressed the backstage heat that Knight might have in the company. The journalist revealed that Knight had no heat backstage, and even if he had, it wouldn’t have affected his creative direction.
“No. Even if he was, what are they gonna do? Make him lose two matches a night instead of one? They're paying the guy good money and swimming upstream to avoid pushing him. He's still stayed over no matter what. He's certainly not going to get in trouble for holding a sign regarding a guy he's had a program with on WWE TV,” he stated.Wrestling veteran wants AEW star to make his WWE return alongside LA Knight
AEW star Chris Jericho has been rumored to make his return to WWE for months now. Addressing the same during a recent edition of his Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the former manager stated that he wanted to see Jericho return and team up with LA Knight. The veteran stated that both men together could build something quite interesting.
"I think Jericho and LA Knight, I think they'd be a good team together. And then, you know, they're both like smartasses with each other, especially Knight. I think they could really build something out of this I'd be interested in. Both those guys are good, so when you have an idea, you know, give it to those guys and let them. I think they would have great chemistry together, and I think they could have a good little run out of that. I'd be interested in it," Mantell said.Fans will have to wait and see what the company has in store for the stars next.
