Los Angeles, CA -
Doechii launched into a scathing attack on Donald Trump and his immigration policies after winning Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards.
Taking to the stage to accept her award, the TDE rapper turned her speech into a fierce critique of Trump while protesters face off against ICE agents in Los Angeles.
She said: “There are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order.”
The “Anxiety” rapper continued: “Trump is using military forces to stop a protest. I want you all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us. What type of government is that?”
She added: “People are being swept up and torn from their families. I feel like it’s my responsibility as an artist to use this moment to speak up for all oppressed people … We all deserve to live in hope and not fear. I hope we stand together.”
In recent days, tensions have flared in Los Angeles amid a crackdown on illegal immigrant in the city.
Protesters came out as a reaction to the raids with Trump subsequently escalating the situation, sending in more than 4000 members of the National Guard.
Trump has also deployed active Marines to the city.
Trump, who is not usually slow in responding to critics in the entertainment industry, has yet to comment on Doechii’s speech.

The president has been at the centre of Hip Hop discussions of late over rumors that he will issue a presidential pardon to Diddy should he be convicted of sex trafficking.
50 Cent has made it clear that he does not want Trump to pardon Diddy, who was an outspoken critic of the Republican in the past.
Trump initially said he would “consider” a pardon for Diddy after having a “look at the facts”.
However, this did not sit right with occasional Trump supporter and number one Diddy troll, 50 Cent.
In response to the news, 50 wrote: “He said some really bad things about Trump, it’s not OK. Im gonna reach out so he knows how I feel about this guy.”
