Dodgers urged to trade Josue De Paula for $4.5M 2-time All-Star as Mookie Betts successor

Just a couple of weeks ago, it seemed like the Los Angeles Dodgers had given the Atlanta Braves the second bye in the playoffs after being swept. However, the team has shifted into another gear and is playing really good baseball as of late.

The Dodgers are starting to win once again at a high level right down the stretch. At this point, it is almost a remake of last season.

“It was at almost this exact point last season when the Dodgers made a similar shift following a late-summer slump. On Sept. 6, they were walked off for a second-straight night by the Baltimore Orioles. They were in a dogfight in the NL West after a 22-32 slump. From there, though, they closed the regular season on a 15-5 tear, locked up the NL West crown in the final week of the regular season, and proceeded to win nine of their first 10 playoff games en route to a second-consecutive title,” California Post’s Jack Harris wrote.

Mookie Betts has been coming up big recently. He is currently playing shortstop, but there is a belief that he could move back to second base next year or sooner due to his age. Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain believes Los Angeles should trade top prospect Josue De Paula and others for Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz.

“Mookie has done an incredible job holding it down at shortstop these past few years. He'll be 34 next season, and it might be time to move him back to second base sooner than later. I'd trade the farm including Josue De Paula for Elly De La Cruz (3 arb years left),” McKain wrote.

This would be an absolute blockbuster, to say the least, but De La Cruz comes with so much upside. He is a plus bat from each side of the plate, with the only knock being his defense.

On Tuesday, De La Cruz made history with a throw. The two-time All-Star can do it all, and that is exactly who the shortstop of the future should be for the Dodgers. He also comes with a lot of years of team control.

De La Cruz has made $4.5 million in his career so far. With LA, his game could be taken to the next level alongside some of the best players to ever do it.
