The Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2025 World Series, but there was a major issue that was something the front office needed to address this offseason, and that was the bullpen.
Edwin Diaz joined the bullpen on a $63 million deal, but the Dodgers could still use another reliever or two. And with so many prospects, the trade market is a great place to look for more depth.
Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer proposed one trade idea, which would have the Dodgers land 4.04 ERA righty reliever Griffin Jax from the Tampa Bay Rays, whom the Rays just acquired at the trade deadline last year.
Dodgers trade idea lands 4.04 ERA reliever from Rays
"It's not clear Jax is actually available, but he is a typical Dodgers trade target," Rymer writes. "Even if the results for his career are merely OK, the combination of his stuff and command rate him as an elite reliever."
Jax is a 31-year-old right-handed reliever who's spent the majority of his MLB career with the Minnesota Twins. Combined with his 3.60 ERA, 23-game stint with the Rays in 2025, Jax has a 4.04 ERA in his career across 299 games.
While he might not be the most eye-catching reliever, he did put it all together for one season, posting a remarkable 2.03 ERA in 72 appearances in 2024 for the Twins.

He put up 2.8 bWAR that season, as his 10 saves, 2.03 ERA, and 95 strikeouts with a 207 ERA+ and 0.873 WHIP were among the best marks for a reliever in 2024.
The Twins traded him to the Rays mid-season, and while he's under club control for the next two seasons, the Dodgers could benefit from the veteran righty joining their bullpen.
Along with Diaz, Jax would join Tanner Scott, Alex Vesia, Blake Treinen, Jake Dryer, and Will Klein, among other depth options, in a bullpen that could use another top right-hander.
With his elite upside according to Fangraphs' Pitching+ (128, second only to Aroldis Chapman at 130), Jax would be a fine trade option for the Dodgers this Spring if they could pull off a trade like what Rymer proposed.
