Shohei Ohtani had started just a bit slow after his return following the birth of his first child, a daughter.
But the Dodgers superstar is officially heating up.
On Tuesday night, Ohtani launched his first home run since becoming a dad, his seventh of the season overall, in a blowout win over the Miami Marlins.
“I haven’t hit one since being a father, so it’s a really nice one to be able to do that," Ohtani told reporters through an interpreter.
Ohtani was 2 for his first 16 when he came back from the paternity list.
But since then, he's 7-for-15 with a homer, three doubles and a triple.
Ohtani's home run Tuesday led off the bottom of the first inning with a 114mph missile.

After the win, Ohtani shared with reporters what it's like balancing dad life with baseball.
“Just being here at home is nice to be able to spend time, but on the road, it’s going to be a little bit of a challenge since I won’t be here," Ohtani said. "… But I’m just grateful for the safe delivery. I’m glad that even though I couldn’t sleep as much as I wanted to, it’s a good kind of not-getting-enough-sleep situation.”

Many Dodgers fans can relate to that.
Ohtani will certainly figure out the balance of it all as time goes on. And given his generational talent, the game of baseball will probably continue to look surprisingly easy to the all-time great.
And now, he's got a daughter to go home to. It's a great time to be Shohei Ohtani.
