The Los Angeles Dodgers ended the 2025 World Series in extra innings.
It took them until Game 92 of the 2026 regular season to get to extra innings again.
That's right -- for 91 games, the Dodgers didn't go past the ninth inning.
On Monday night, though, they finally got to extras.
They had Tanner Scott to thank for that after he gave up three runs in the ninth inning to blow a save against the Rockies.
According to MLB.com's Sarah Langs, this is the second-longest a team has gone into a season without reaching extra innings.

Interestingly, it was the 2005 Boston Red Sox who still hold the record for this. They were also defending World Series champs, coming off their ending of the Curse of the Bambino.
So based on a much-too-small sample size, maybe there's something about winning an epic World Series that leads to a lot of nine-inning games the following season.
As for the Dodgers on Monday night, they and the Rockies each scored in the 10th inning before Colorado was scoreless in the top of the 11th.
That set up Dalton Rushing to deliver a walk-off single and ensure the Dodgers won their first extra inning game of the 2026 MLB season.
It took a while, but it's only natural that the Dodgers won in this way, too, because lately, they're the winningest team in the sport.
