Dodgers make Alek Thomas decision during Reds series

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a notable roster move amid their series with the Cincinnati Reds. 

According to Triple-A Oklahoma City broadcaster Alex Freedman, outfielder Alek Thomas was outrighted to the minors after clearing waivers. 

Thomas, who played seven games with the Dodgers after a trade from the Arizona Diamondbacks, was in Tuesday's Triple-A lineup. 

"A couple of #Dodgers DFA resolutions: Both Alek Thomas and Ben Rortvedt cleared waivers and accepted assignments to OKC. Both are with the team today. Thomas in starting lineup. Rortvedt expected to start tomorrow," Freedman wrote on X. 

With the Dodgers, Thomas went 4-for-19 with three RBIs and four strikeouts in 20 plate appearances. 

Thomas is a solid defensive outfielder thanks to his good speed, but Los Angeles is probably hoping for more with the bat, just like the Diamondbacks were.

For his career, Thomas is a .230/.273/.360 hitter with 31 home runs and a .633 OPS. 

He's never had an OPS above .659, when he tied his career high with nine homers and roped 19 doubles. 

It's possible that Thomas finishes out the season in Triple-A and returns next year hoping to win a Major League opportunity out of spring training.
