Freddie Freeman knows that he has played more baseball than he has left in his MLB career.
But how long until the Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman retires?
He spoke about that during his media session ahead of the 2026 MLB All-Star Game.
“I’ve always wanted to try and play until I’m 40 years old,” Freeman said, via Dodgers Beat. “That would be three more years after this. I’m not going to put a firm number on it. I would have to get another contract, so I’m only worried about this year. But 20 years in the big leagues would be kind of cool and special.”

Freeman will turn 37 years old on Sept. 12.
He debuted in the majors on Sept. 1, 2010, with the Atlanta Braves.
This season, he's batting .290 with 15 home runs and 49 RBI.
Freeman has won three World Series titles, as as well as a World Series MVP, and a regular season MVP.
He has 2,534 hits in his MLB career along with 382 home runs. Freeman's career average entering the All-Star Break is .299.
“We’re on our way to 3,000 (hits),” Freeman said. “That would be awesome to get to. Hopefully I can stay healthy and play well enough to get there.”
If Freeman does indeed pull off playing three more seasons, he should get to 3,000 hits.
He's already had a remarkable career, and he clearly doesn't plan on it ending quite yet.
