The Los Angeles Dodgers have been the biggest spenders in all of Major League Baseball over the last few seasons.
Kyle Tucker and Edwin Diaz, this offseason, were two massive additions for the Dodgers, which filled the two biggest holes on the roster from their 2025 World Series championship-winning team.
But, the Dodgers spending isn't just on outside free agents, they've also spending on their own. As the Dodgers announced, they have agreed to a $10 million contract extension with Max Muncy, locking the veteran third baseman in for the next few seasons.
Dodgers extend Max Muncy on $10M contract
"The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to terms with IF Max Muncy on a one-year contract extension for $10 million guaranteed, which includes a $7 million salary for the 2027 season and a $10 million club option for 2028," the Dodgers announced.
This is a big deal for the Dodgers, as it keeps a key player locked in for the next few years and gives them the ability to retain him through the 2028 season as well.
$10 million is a small price to pay for Muncy, especially after how great he looked last season for the Dodgers in their second-straight World Series title.

In 100 games last season, Muncy had a .243 batting average with an .846 OPS. Combined with good defense at third base, the 35-year-old is a great player who's more than worth $10 million per-season.
Over the last two postseason runs, Muncy has had a .755 and .764 OPS in 2024 and 2025, respectively. He's a great hitter with great defense, and while he's a bit older, this contract is more than worth it for the Dodgers.
Muncy is playing great in recent years, and while he might not have made an All-Star team since 2021, he's more than capable of being an All-Star and a core contributor for the Dodgers in their World Series pursuit.
This $10 million contract extension, with an option for the 2028 season, is a great one for both the Dodgers and Muncy. It's been a great match, and there's no reason to go their separate ways anytime soon.
