DK Metcalf had eye on another AFC team before trade to Pittsburgh Steelers

The Seattle Seahawks trading wide receiver DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers was one of the biggest moves of the 2025 offseason.

But if Metcalf had his choice, he might have preferred to land with the Las Vegas Raiders instead.

During a recent episode of the "Get Got Pod with Marshawn Lynch & Mike Robinson," the latter revealed that Metcalf wanted to play for the Raiders.

“[Pete Carroll] tried to bring everybody up out of that building,” Lynch said.

“I know,” Robinson responded. “Remember DK wanted to go there.”

Acquiring Metcalf, who eventually went to Pittsburgh for a second-round pick and a swap of picks, would have made sense for the Raiders, a team that didn't — and still doesn't — have a true No. 1 wide receiver on its roster.

Las Vegas went on to stay quiet at the position in free agency and the trade market, but it did add a pair of rookies in Jack Bech and Dont'e Thornton, both of whom have a chance at a significant role in 2025.

Along with those two, the Raiders have a top-notch No. 2 wide receiver in Jakobi Meyers, who is the default No. 1 option in the room currently, and a budding superstar tight end in Brock Bowers.

While Bech has seemingly had an up-and-down first offseason, which is what you'd expect from a rookie, Thornton has routinely been mentioned as one of the biggest standouts on the team.

Meanwhile, Metcalf will look to start his new chapter in Pittsburgh with a bang, where he'll have Aaron Rodgers throwing him the football.
