Dillon Brooks signs a long-term extension with the Phoenix Suns through the 2029-30 season

After getting traded to the Phoenix Suns in the 2025 offseason, Dillon Brooks had a fantastic 2025-26 season. He was one of the biggest reasons why the Suns were competitive enough to reach the Playoffs, which is a huge achievement due to the low expectations for the team.

The season was also filled with all kinds of injuries, including two long-term ones for Jalen Green. That meant Brooks had to step up and become the second option to Devin Booker, and he did just that, earning the best season of his career.

Dillon Brooks commits his future to the Phoenix Suns

Brooks scored 20.2 points per game during the regular season for the Suns. It was a fantastic run for him, as he helped the Suns get past the Kevin Durant hangover. He and Green were the primary pieces from that trade with the Houston Rockets, and they reached the Playoffs, which Durant could not do in his last season in Phoenix.

It seems Brooks is right at home in Phoenix as he has embodied Suns basketball in his first year. Booker and head coach Jordan Ott seem to love having him around, so that is a big positive for the Suns as they head into the promising future.

Brooks signed a three-year extension worth $73 million, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. This will give him a contract that will run through the 2029-30 season, so he is committed to the long-term future in Phoenix. Considering he has been a popular figure within the organization, this was an easy decision for the Suns.

Brooks enjoyed his first season with the Suns, and it seems he has finally found a home again. He spent the first six seasons of his career playing for the Memphis Grizzlies and was part of that resurgent team led by Ja Morant. However, after two seasons in Houston, Brooks seems to have secured a long-term deal for himself in Phoenix.

The Suns' future is set with Booker still leading the way. Despite that, younger players like Khaman Maluach and Koa Peat make the future even more promising. The current squad, with the likes of Booker, Brooks, Green, Miles Bridges, and Mark Williams, is all ready to compete, which will be good in the Western Conference.
