Sean "Diddy" Combs reportedly got emotional while on a phone call with his two-year-old daughter, Love, in the aftermath of his sentencing. For those uninformed, the rapper was sentenced to four years and two months after being found guilty on two counts of "transportation to engage in prostitution" on October 3, 2025. He was placed at the Metropolitan Detention Centre after his arrest in September 2024.
According to an exclusive report published by TMZ on October 10, 2025, the rapper recently spoke with Dana Tran, the mother of his youngest child, over the phone before speaking with their daughter, Love. Sources told the publication that the toddler asked Combs when she could see him and told him she missed him, to which Combs emotionally replied, "I miss you and love you very much, Love," and "Daddy's away for a little while."
Love is the youngest of Diddy's six biological children. Combs is also the father of Quincy Brown, the late Kim Porter's son, whom he adopted while dating Porter. All of Diddy's adult children were present at court on and off since the rapper's trial began in May 2025.
According to TMZ, Dana Tran and Love, who live in Los Angeles, reportedly traveled to New York City for Combs' sentencing. Tran was in court during the sentencing, while Love was at the hotel with a babysitter. The publication also reported that the last time Combs saw his youngest daughter in person was in August 2024.
In December 2022, Diddy announced that he was "so blessed" to welcome his daughter, Love Sean Combs, who was born on October 15, 2022. According to Vanity Fair, he took to his Instagram to reveal the good news, writing:
“I’m so blessed to welcome my baby girl Love Sean Combs to the world."I’m so blessed to welcome my baby girl Love Sean Combs to the world. Mama Combs, Quincy, Justin, Christian, Chance, D’Lila, Jessie and myself all love you so much! God is the Greatest!
Diddy reportedly cried when his children spoke at his sentencing
Combs was reportedly moved to tears when his children spoke on his behalf during his sentencing on October 3, 2025. According to NBC News, his six adult children were at court on the day of the sentencing, and each of them spoke in his defense. Combs reportedly began to cry while holding his head, before bowing down and wiping away his tears.
D'Lila Combs, one of Diddy's twin daughters with the late Kim Porter, mentioned Love Sean Combs in her statement, saying:
"Our 2-year-old sister is asking, 'Where dad is?'...We cannot watch our baby sister grow up fatherless the same way we grew up motherless. We are tired of being strong. We have already lost so much: our mother, our father. Please, give us the chance to heal together and move forward together."
Meanwhile, Quincy Brown, Diddy's oldest son, whom he adopted while dating Porter, called his father a "changed man." Following this, the defense played an 11-minute video that highlighted Diddy's life as a father, artist, and philanthropist.
Combs also addressed the court before his sentencing, apologizing to Cassie Ventura, Jane, his mother, and his children. According to USA Today, a seemingly emotional Combs said:
"My mother taught me better. My faith taught me better … I got lost in the journey of life. I got lost in excess. I got lost in my ego. Because of my decisions, I lost my freedom. I've totally destroyed my reputation. I've been humbled and broken down. I hate myself right now. I've been stripped down to nothing." "I'm so sorry. Y'all deserve better. Mom, I failed you as a son. I'm sorry. You taught me better, you raised me better," he said to his children and mother.
According to the BBC, Combs turned to his family and appeared to say "I love you, I'm sorry" after Judge Arun Subramanian read out his sentencing. In his statement before the sentencing, the judge said Combs used his power and influence to "subjugate" his victims, adding that the rapper "abused them physically, emotionally and psychologically."
In other news, Diddy's legal team requested that he serve his sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. On October 6, his legal team wrote a letter to the judge asking that he recommend the Bureau of Prisons to place Combs at Fort Dix so that the rapper could “address drug abuse issues” and “maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts."
