Several NBA teams were in serious talks to try and make a move for Kevin Durant.
At least that's what we thought.

Was Miami a serious trade suitor for KD?
There were a lot of reports and rumors that the Heat were not willing to let go of certain rotation players in a trade for Durant.
The Heat, for years, have been trying to trade for big names but have ended up failing to do so.
It happened just a few years ago when Damian Lillard was available on the trade market.
The Heat were said to be one of the serious teams interested in Durant this offseason, but one writer thinks it was all for show.

Talk show host John Gambadoro posted on X, "Yes basically the Miami offer was junk. No Ware. No Jovic. Only one draft pick and players they nor the Suns wanted. Garbage. Miami was never really serious. They just pretend to be to appease their fan base."
Pat Riley has been criticized in the past for some decisions he's made and this is another one fans probably won't be happy about.
The Heat had a lot of players they could offload, yet decided to be what some viewed as a little petty, in trade talks, allowing people to assume that they weren't seriously going for Durant unless the Suns budged.
The Heat still could be active in trade talks this summer as they have assets they can package together for a star-level player.
