DJ Akademiks recently commented on Rory Farrell, one-half of the New Rory & Mal podcast, who landed himself in controversy after many of his past racist tweets resurfaced on social media. For the uninitiated, screenshots of Farrell's old X posts, including posts where he made fun of Beyoncé's name, reappeared on social media last week.

On November 12, 2025, Farrell, along with his fellow podcast co-hosts, apologized for his old comments during an X Spaces conversation. However, according to Hot 97, the apology seemingly backfired after many listeners accused the podcaster of taking a sarcastic tone.

Following this, Farrell has deactivated his X account @thisisrory. A search for any of his old posts yields the result, "This Post is from an account that no longer exists."

On November 16, DJ Vlad noted that Farrell deactivated his X account. DJ Akademiks quote-tweeted Vlad's tweet and claimed that the people the podcaster "pandered" to turned their backs on him, adding:

"The ppl he pandered 2 the most turned their back on him. This why u can’t fw cancel culture.. I just don’t like that b***h a** n***a but lowkey all the ppl who feel like they got betrayed by his comments stupid asf. I aint on ya side. B authentic never pander they’ll switch on ya."

Exploring Rory Farrell's recent controversy

Rory Farrell's decade-old problematic tweets resurfaced online last week, prompting many users to call out the podcaster for his alleged racist behavior. According to Complex, one of the posts read, "I've never saw a good looking black woman." Another post read:

“Every black woman has either, wanted to, thought about, or actually fucked a white guy #whitepeoplefacts.”

However, one of his more shocking tweets was aimed at Beyoncé and her daughter Blue Ivy. In one post, Farrell claimed that the Diva singer had a "hootrat" name. After the resurfaced posts garnered immense backlash, Rory Farrell, with his co-hosts Mal and Demaris, went on X Spaces to apologize for the remarks and clear the air.

However, amid the conversation, Mal asked Farrell if he was being canceled, to which the podcaster jokingly replied:

“Yeah, I hate Black women. I think all Black women are ugly... I only think white is the only pure beauty, as you know, as I tell you guys all the time, how much I love white women.”

Farrell's joking demeanor was not well-received by the audience, with many accusing him of being "condescending" and "sarcastic." One listener labeled Farrell's response as "violence," resulting in the podcaster replying:

“I couldn’t agree more with everything that you said. My point the entire time has been saying I’m not apologizing for anyone that has said that I’ve called Black women ugly or roaches. That’s all I’ve said—I apologize for everything else. Don’t ever say I have called Black woman ugly or roaches or anything that y’all have been trying to put on me because I never said that.”

Following this, Rory Farrell addressed the backlash after his X Spaces conversation during a recent episode of the New Rory & Mal podcast that aired on November 14. According to Hot New Hip Hop, Farrell apologized for "being dismissive" of the people who were "genuinely just looking for an answer" and an "actual response" from him.

He also admitted to being a "f**king d*ck," confessing that he was a "little condescending" and handled the Spaces conversation "poorly."
