LeBron James has the potential to do something astounding.
The all-time great, who has spent time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers, is a free agent at the age of 41. And by all sorts of accounts, it appears he's considering signing with the Golden State Warriors.
With the Warriors, his former nemesis.
With the Warriors, to play with Stephen Curry.
With the Warriors, to be teammates with his physical opponent, Draymond Green.
It would be a stunning, headline-grabbing, massive move.
Maybe it wouldn't entirely shift the balance of power in the Western Conference, but it'd create a fascinating final chapter in the NBA careers of James and Curry.
Free agency opens at 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Could a deal be coming soon?

Did LeBron James sign with the Warriors?
As of Tuesday morning, there has been no contract signed. Technically, free agency hasn't begun yet, so James can't have signed yet.
The Lakers could negotiate a sign-and-trade that moves James somewhere, but it's not a given that this situation will progress like that. That's just the only way it could've already happened.
It's not clear how close the Warriors situation actually is.
ESPN insiders over the past few days have reported that James wants to go to Golden State only if it's with Anthony Davis (who would need to be traded from the Wizards).
Reports on Tuesday, the day free agency opens, continue to indicate that the Warriors want to try to get this done soon.
Golden State actually made the salary situation trickier by re-signing Kristaps Porzingis on Monday, but whether that actually means anything to this setup remains to be seen.
For now, James is a free agent. That could change soon, and no matter where he goes, it'll be a big deal.
