The View was missing one of its Hot Topics Table members today — and she won’t be back for the rest of the week.
Joy Behar was notably absent from Tuesday’s episode, though this wasn’t a surprise to those who listen to The View‘s Behind the Table podcast. The View‘s executive producer Brian Teta confirmed on an episode last week that Behar was “not going to be here” this week, eventually noting that “some folks filling in” for Behar include Sheryl Underwood and Kara Swisher, per Entertainment Weekly.
On Tuesday, Ana Navarro filled in for Behar. According to ABC’s guest listings, Swisher will begin guest co-hosting on Wednesday, June 3.
Behar clarified on Friday’s (May 29) episode of The View that she is simply “taking off the next two weeks,” and that her time away from the ABC daytime talk show is “not a hiatus.”
“I’m working,” she said. “I have a planned trip overseas to work on my play, My First Ex-Husband, in London. I’m working!”
Behar said she has “written a bunch of plays,” including one called Bonkers in the Boroughs that will be performed in Sag Harbor at the end of the summer. Her View co-hosts assured Behar that they will miss her, which Behar said was mutual, as she also noted thar she will miss Teta.
“And I will always miss the audience. That’s my thing,” she shared. “Have a great day everyone. Take a little time to enjoy The View. I’ll be back in two weeks.”
Former First Lady Jill Biden is part of today’s episode lineup, chatting with the co-hosts about her new book Views from the East Wing: A Memoir.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
