Did Bad Bunny diss Lakers' LeBron James during Super Bowl halftime show?

LeBron James is one of the best NBA players of all time.

The fact that the 6-foot-9 Los Angeles Lakers star is still going strong at age 41 speaks to his longevity and ability to produce despite experiencing a decline in his athleticism. James is averaging 21.8 points, 6.8 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game with the Lakers this season.

However, regardless of James’ masterful contributions on the hardwood, he will always be subject to scrutiny and subtle jabs from outsiders. Unfortunately, it comes with territory, which James has quickly discovered.

The latest low blow directed at the four-time NBA champion may have occurred during rapper Bad Bunny’s halftime performance during Sunday night’s Super Bowl between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.

Did Bad Bunny diss LeBron James during his Super Bowl halftime show?

According to a translated version of one of Bad Bunny’s songs, the Puerto Rican artist included a line that many interpreted as a shot at James.

“And (JJ) Barea (who’s also from Puerto Rico), the one who became champion before LeBron,” Bunny stated.

For clarity, Barea was a part of the 2010-11 Dallas Mavericks squad that defeated James and the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. After helping the Mavericks upset the star-studded Heat, Barea had the luxury of boasting about winning an NBA title before James.

Considering that it’s believed that Bad Bunny and James have a solid relationship, it’s far more likely that the 2026 Super Bowl halftime performer had no ill intentions and was simply giving a shoutout to Barea.

Regardless, James is the player who will get the last laugh, as he’s won four championships, holds a historic record for most seasons played in NBA history, and will go down as arguably the GOAT when it's all said and done.
