Diane Keaton’s legacy lives on.
The beloved actress, who died Oct. 11 at age 79, was honored at Vogue World: Hollywood. The event, held at Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles on Sunday, featured a moving tribute to Keaton’s infamous style on the runway.
Model Betsy Gaghan walked in front of the crowd in a Ralph Lauren recreation of Keaton’s iconic “Annie Hall” outfit that was originally designed by Ruth Morley.
The look, made famous from the 1977 movie directed by Woody Allen, included a suit, tie and wide-brimmed hat which all became a part of Keaton’s signature style.
Vogue Magazine shared an Instagram clip of Gaghan’s ode to Keaton on the runway.
“Beautiful. Like her ghost walking through the lot, her spirit remembering all that was and still finding joy. Love this,” one fan wrote in the comments section.
“This was my favorite part of the whole show- this model did such a wonderful wonderful job!” another fan said.
“Oh, this just gave me chills. a talent and personality like Diane deserves to be referenced and resurfaced in every which way,” someone else commented.
“This look made me tear up 😢❤️,” a fourth fan added.
Keaton became a style icon for her unique wardrobe choices in “Annie Hall,” the film that won her the Oscar for Best Actress.
Allen, 89, famously asked Keaton to dress herself for the movie, which caused her to butt heads with Morley. The costume designer initially envisioned that Keaton’s character in the film would not be “so fully formed from a style perspective,” per The Hollywood Reporter.
But Keaton ultimately got the final say in her outfits, choosing wardrobe pieces from vintage stores and her own closet, as well as some looks styled by Ralph Lauren.
In an interview with People last year, Keaton looked back on the start of her sense of style.
“[My mother] took me to Goodwill and let me express myself,” the “Family Stone” actress recalled. “She was my biggest supporter and manifester of my creativity.”
“Later in life my inspiration came from countless hours of cutting and pasting my way through magazines like Vogue magazine,” Keaton added.
Keaton died of pneumonia, her family confirmed in a statement four days after her passing.
“The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane,” the star’s relatives said.
After Keaton’s death, a friend of the actress revealed her health had “declined very suddenly” in the final months of her life.
“It was so unexpected,” the friend told People at the time, “especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”
“In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private,” the friend added. “Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening.”
