DeWanna Bonner is putting rumors about her departure from the Indiana Fever to rest.

While speaking to reporters Saturday, Bonner, a 3-time Sixth Woman of the Year, disputed reports that she left the Fever because she was coming off the bench. Bonner began the season as a starter, but eventually lost the role to Lexie Hull.

"That wasn’t ever the issue, that’s never been me," Bonner explained. "I have no problems coming off the bench. I have never been that player. I don’t feel like I have that reputation."

Bonner also said that she believes the decision was completely the right one to make. "Getting back to Phoenix after so long, the love and the welcome that I had was very much needed and appreciated," she added.

Bonner was drafted by the Mercury in 2009 and won two championships with the team.
