The San Antonio Spurs earned their 10th straight win Wednesday night, defeating the Toronto Raptors in a close road matchup.
However, San Antonio's offense came from a much more unlikely source.
Overshadowed by the likes of Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle and De'Aaron Fox, Devin Vassell was the star of the show on this occasion.
Vassell finished with a game-high 21 points on an impressive 5-for-6 shooting night from three-point range. He also added five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
This marks the second consecutive game where Vassell has dominated offensively, scoring 28 points against the Detroit Pistons in Monday's win. On that night, Vassell led the team in scoring again and shot 10-for-14 from the field and 7-for-11 from downtown.
Following that game, Vassell shared San Antonio's mentality and a theme that proves to be pivotal for their success. "We got many great players and any night it can be anybody's night. We all play for each other, we're all super humble and all we want to do is win," said Vassell.
Prior to Monday's game, Vassell had scored 20 or more on six occasions this season, but not since Dec. 13th.
Along with Vassell, San Antonio had five other scorers in double-figures including the aforementioned Fox with 20.
To make the victory even sweeter for the Spurs, the Oklahoma City Thunder suffered a defeat, meaning the Spurs now sit within two games of the top-seed in the Western Conference.
The Spurs will quickly travel to Brooklyn for Thursday's game, facing the Nets on the second night of a back-to-back.
