Detroit Tigers top prospect has debut timeline predicted by ESPN’s Jeff Passan

The Detroit Tigers continue to have one of MLB’s most impressive young cores, and two prospects in particular have drawn significant attention heading into the season.

Outfielder Max Clark and infielder Kevin McGonigle are viewed by many evaluators as potential cornerstones for the franchise’s future, both ranked among the top in the game.

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Tigers could see both prospects make a major impact sooner rather than later. Passan even went as far as to say that Clark could make his debut this season.

“Kevin McGonigle is atop the Tigers' lineup by mid-April and starting alongside Max Clark in October. McGonigle will be a star, Chase Utley 2.0, and though A.J. Hinch navigates his outfield platoons as well as any manager, Clark is an every-day center fielder with an elite glove and a bat to match.

“Rare is the year when two prospects capable of this much impact arrive with one team. The future in Detroit continues to grow brighter,” he wrote.

Clark has been considered one of the most promising center field prospects in baseball, but did struggle in Spring Training. His elite glove and impressive hit tool give him the profile of a potential contributor once he reaches the show. McGonigle is the better prospect and should be on the team as soon as possible.
