Detroit Lions star called out for 'rocky start' to season

It's not easy being a team with expectations, and that's also true of individual players. Now, one Detroit Lions star is getting some shade for having a "rocky start" to the season.

The Lions are 1-1 so far in the season. This franchise has never been to the Super Bowl, and this offense is hot, so this is really the time to do it, if it's ever going to happen.

But, in order to get there, the team's offense and defense need to be on point. They need to be firing on all cylinders. That's just not happening with one player, and it's getting attention.

ESPN has released a feature about the biggest surprises for each NFL franchise going into Week 3. It's early, but there are still surprises.

For the Lions, it's wide receiver Jameson Williams being "off to a rocky start."

"Coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, there were high expectations for Williams entering 2026 as WR2," Eric Woodyard of ESPN states. "However, Williams has just six receptions for 78 yards under first-year offensive coordinator Drew Petzing."

He adds that "Williams has been targeted 13 times and hasn't been able to make much of an impact through the first two weeks."

Still, quarterback Jared Goff has said that he's "not worried about him in the slightest, and I got to be a little bit better for him, too," per Woodyard.

Plus, Woodyard calls it a "mirage" of a problem. Williams should be just fine.

So, Williams is getting a little flack and fire for his performance so far this season. But there's lots of time left to make up for it.
