Derrick Henry's insane high school stats: The unbelievable numbers of Ravens RB's HS career

5 hours ago 3

When Derrick Henry arrived at Alabama, he didn't know how to pass block.

His Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban has told this story in different ways, but the gist is this: Henry didn't know what to do because he had never been asked to do it.

In high school, Henry was just told to receive the handoff and run, over and over and over again.

And when you see the numbers of Henry in high school, it's not hard to believe that to be true.

Maybe no player ever was as dominant as Henry at the high school level for Yulee High School outside of Jacksonville, Florida. His stats and feats are the stuff of legend. Every time they surface, those seeing Henry's accomplishments for the first time are blown away.

So here, we take a look back at all that Henry did. It's still hard to believe.

Throw on this video for a little bit:

Henry immediately hit the ground running as a high school freshman and never really stopped.

His physical freakishness combined with his production to earn him a spot at Alabama, which he pivoted to after initially choosing Georgia.

Henry's unfamiliarity with pass blocking clearly didn't deter Saban too much.

It all worked out OK, and based on Henry's unstoppable on high school fields, it makes sense that everything that has happened since has been so special, too.
