Derrick Henry’s bold recruitment tests Eagles’ AJ Brown influence

The upcoming NFL offseason might be drama-filled for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, AJ Brown.

After hearing his name in trade rumors throughout the 2025 NFL offseason, and showing clear signs of frustration with the offense at times, it’s only a matter of time before teams begin call Howie Roseman and the Eagles’ front office for a price tag.

To get ahead of the game, Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry has been busy recruiting Brown during Super Bowl week festivities in San Francisco.

It started with a conversation on the ‘Up & Adams’ Show.

“We would gladly love to have him,” Henry said of Brown. “AJ’s a dog. You know, I played with AJ in Tennessee. … (Lamar) likes playing with guys who have got dog mentalities. So he would love AJ. Come on over. Please, please, A.J., come to Baltimore. Let’s go get this ring. You got one in Philly. Y’all done did that. It’s time to come to Baltimore.”

Both spent some time as teammates with the Tennessee Titans. Brown ended up in a trade to the Eagles in 2022. Eventually, Henry made his way over to Baltimore.

The Eagles don’t have to part ways with Brown anytime soon. In fact, a trade could get especially pricey for the Eagles as moving on from Brown would cause a major cap hit. Still, that hasn’t stopped Henry from adding fuel to the fire. After sending a direct public recruiting message to Brown when he wasn’t in the room, Henry took it a step further on a Twitch stream.

“AJ to the Ravens, bruh,” Henry said

Brown stopped to give a stare that wondered why he would say something like that out loud.

So far, each party in Philadelphia said all of the right things. Howie Roseman claimed at the end of the season that they would keep AJ Brown, as they aren’t interested in shipping out players of his caliber while they are trying to win now. Brown seems to be in a good headspace and isn’t commenting on the team as if he’s got one foot out the door.

But if the veteran wide receiver is easily influenced by peers who are close to him, that might be a cause for concern.
