Colorado coach Deion Sanders added speculation about his long-term future in football after sharing plans to purchase a home in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Deion Sanders Jr. posted a Well Off Media video from St. Croix this week while attending a charity golf tournament beside his father, who reveals that he and the other members of his family were planning to tour homes on the island.
“We’re in St. Croix and what we’re about to do today is stop by this golf tournament for a man I love — an extraordinary man that I support,” Sanders said in the video. “And then we’re going looking for me. Yeah, we’re looking for a family crib on the island.”
Sanders said the trip was about enjoying life while also reflecting on the pace of his busy career. The Hall-of-Famer enters his fourth year with renewed optimism towards what he and his staff are building in Boulder. Many view the 2026 season as a pivotal point. However, the subtle announcement has Buffs fans nervous about retirement concerns.
“You know there’s levels to everything,” Sanders said. “When I became a man, I started putting away certain things so I could do certain things later.”
Sanders also spoke about trying to balance the demands of coaching with a desire to slow down and appreciate life. This might come from his relationship with girlfriend Karrueche Tran. The two have shown appreciation for each other over the roller coaster ride which included Sanders' cancer diagnosis last year.

“This is beautiful,” he said. “Trying to slow down and speed up at the same time.”
The comments quickly prompted discussion among college football fans about whether Sanders might be thinking about life after coaching. However, he did not mention retirement and has repeatedly reaffirmed his commitment to the Colorado program as he continues building the Buffaloes under the “Prime Effect.”
