Deion Sanders believes he has information Todd Monken needs to hear

A trip to Cleveland is in the plans for Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, and the conversation he wants to have with Browns head coach Todd Monken is one he says should have happened a year ago.

Appearing on "The Barbershop" with Garrett Bush, Sanders made clear the distinction between the two hats he wears and which one he's bringing to this meeting.

“I was supposed to go, actually next week but I’ve got to shoot a commercial, to Cleveland to meet [Monken],” Sanders said, per ProFootballTalk. “Because I want to meet him. Because I think it’s vital that as a coach, not the dad, I can tell him a few things about [Shedeur], how to get him going."

Sanders coached Shedeur through high school and all four of his college seasons between Jackson State and Colorado. The information he's carrying into that room isn't available in any film session, maybe.

His frustration, directed at the previous staff rather than Monken, is that nobody ever picked up the phone.

"That wasn’t asked of me a year ago. I don’t understand it. Even a guy like Travis Hunter being drafted to Jacksonville and I’ve had him for the last three [seasons], don’t you think you would want to talk to me to ask me what gets him going and what backs him off? You would want to know that. So, I anticipate, and I can’t wait to have that conversation with Coach Monken.”

Shedeur now competes with Deshaun Watson for the starting job in Year 2. Monken was hired in January after the Browns fired Kevin Stefanski following a 5-12 finish.
