“DEI hire” “Probably has Shedeur Sanders rated an A+”: NFL fans rip ex-Titans GM Ran Carthon for questionable grade on Giants’ Jaxson Dart pick

NFL fans strongly disagreed with former Tennessee Titans general manager Ran Carthon after he graded the New York Giants a C+ for drafting Jaxson Dart. During a recent episode of the "With The First Pick Podcast," Carthon and Ryan Wilson graded every first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Carthon surprised his co-host when it came to the Giants' selection.

"I would go and grade, with the hype curve, we're gonna grade objectively, and if I grade him objectively, I'm gonna give him a C+," Carthon said. "He's run around and he's done some things with his leg, but he's made some bad decisions with the football as a passer.

"Again, it's not only that he lost his No. 1 target in Malik Nabers and now his No. 1 target is Wan'Dale Robinson has brought some excitement and some edge and confidence to this team, but it has not translated in terms of team's production and team's wins, so you gotta look through the hype and look through the cool story of it all and grade him objectively, so a C+."

Fans called out Carthon for his take, clowning him and blaming that type of take for his firing.

"Probably has Shedeur rated an A+," one fan said.

"Former DEI hire," another fan said. "That’s why it says 'Former,'" another fan said.

The criticism didn't stop there, as other fans recalled all the bad decisions he made during his time with the Titans.

"Traded up for Levis, let Vrabel waltz right over to New England, I’m good on your yapping," one fan said. "Is this the same guy that traded AJ Brown?" another fan questioned. "This why he’s a 'former,'" another fan said.

Jaxson Dart has confirmed he is the quarterback of the future for the Giants

Jaxson Dart wasn't expected to take the field as soon as he did, but after three consecutive losses with Russell Wilson struggling under center, former head coach Brian Daboll started Dart from Week 4 on.

In nine games, the Ole Miss product has gone 128 of 204 for 1,417 yards and 10 touchdowns against three interceptions. He has been sacked 21 times, while carrying the ball 57 times for 317 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Giants have a bright future with Jaxson Dart as their leader, but they need to find a replacement after firing Daboll on Monday.
