The Toronto Blue Jays’ season ended in heartbreak after losing the World Series in extra innings in Game Seven. Now, in this offseason, they need to make some changes to finally get over the hump.
What they need to finally land the free agent of the offseason. They missed out on Shohei Ohtani in 2023 and Juan Soto in 2024. Now, Fansided’s Christopher Kline predicts that the Jays will finally get their white whale in Kyle Tucker.
“After finishing second for Ohtani and quite possibly for Soto, the Blue Jays finally finish the job and attract the offseason's biggest fish. It's a fitting capstone to a miraculous come-up for Ross Atkins and company. Suddenly, Toronto is one of the most desirable landing spots in MLB. That lineup is airtight and Tucker only adds to the Blue Jays' overwhelming depth. He's such a Blue Jays hitter — equally adept at generating solid contact to all areas of the field or just ripping one over the wall,” Kline wrote.
This past season, Tucker slashed .266/.377/.464/.841 with 25 doubles, 22 home runs, 73 RBI, and 25 stolen bases in 136 games played. Combined with George Springer, Bo Bichette, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the Jays’ lineup would be insane.
It would cost them a pretty penny, though. Tucker is projected to get a contract of around 12 years, $460 million, but if the Jays were prepared to pay Ohtani and Soto, who both got $700+ million contracts, they could afford Tucker.
Hopefully, the Jays get to pursuing him, as he will be the hottest free agent on the market.
