Declan Rice and Jordan Henderson lauded Morgan Rogers' performance against Manchester United on Sunday, December 21. The Englishman scored a brace to help Aston Villa beat the Red Devils 2-1 at Villa Park in the Premier League.

Rogers opened the scoring in the 45th minute with a brilliant strike. Matheus Cunha, however, restored parity for Manchester United three minutes later. The Englishman then scored another in the 57th minute via a curling effort past Senne Lammens.

After the game, Rogers shared a carousel post on Instagram with his celebrations during the game. His England compatriots Declan Rice and Jordan Henderson were among a number of players to comment on it. The Arsenal midfielder wrote:

"[lock & key emoji] in differently"

Meanwhile, Henderson commented with a salute and a fire emoji.

Rogers has now scored seven goals and provided five assists in 24 games across competitions for Aston Villa. He joined the club from Middlesbrough in January 2024 for a reported fee of £8 million, plus add-ons. He's contributed 24 goals and 22 assists in 94 games for them.


Morgan Rogers opens up on Aston Villa's win over Manchester United and potential title challenge

Manchester United dominated possession against Aston Villa with 58% and also attempted 15 shots, with six being on target. The hosts had 11 attempts, with four being on target, but won 2-1. After the game, Morgan Rogers said that it was a tough game and they are pleased with the three points.

The English midfielder said (h/t Manchester Evening News):

"It's massive. Every game is important, there's no bigger team than United. They came here to play, they're a tough team to play against and we've not had a great record against them recently so we knew we had to put it right and we're happy with the three points."

Aston Villa have now won 10 games in a row across competitions for the first time since 1914. When asked if they could mount a Premier League title challenge, Rogers answered:

"We'll let everyone else talk about that. You make them conversations, we're only focused on what our task at hand is in each game."

Aston Villa are third in the Premier League standings, three points behind leaders Arsenal and one point behind Manchester City. Manchester United, meanwhile, are seventh, 10 points behind Villa.
