De'Von Achane's latest injury update is brutal blow to Dolphins

The Dolphins played more competitively than most expected in a loss to the Chiefs on Sunday, but Miami's long-term outlook may have taken a major hit.

De'Von Achane was ruled out after suffering a knee injury in the first half, and the update from coach Jeff Hafley after the game has Dolphins fans concerned the team may have to start preparing for life without the star running back.

Achane was primarily replaced by Ollie Gordon II, who was bottled up by the Chiefs for 41 yards on 17 carries.

Here's the latest update on Achane's status.

De'Von Achane injury update

After missing most of Sunday's loss, Achane could be dealing with a serious injury, Hafley said.

"To be honest with you, it does not sound optimistic," the first-year coach told reporters after the 24-10 defeat.

Achane walked off the field in pain during the first half and did not return, giving way to Gordon in the backfield. The Dolphins stayed in the game largely due to a solid defensive performance, but the offense struggled to keep up without Achane on the field.

If Achane is lost for the season or any extended period, Jaylen Wright figures to be Miami's lead back once he returns from an injury of his own.

While he was able to walk back to the locker room without assistance, Achane returned to the sideline in street clothes.
