David Arquette is proud to say he was murdered by an Oscar winner.
In an exclusive interview with The Post, the 53-year-old actor praised Mikey Madison who played the Ghostface that murdered Arquette’s character, Dewey Riley, in “Scream 5.”
“She did an incredible job. She’s a such a wonderful actress,” Arquette said about the “Anora” star while promoting his new film, “Mob Cops.”
“And now we have a Ghostface as an Oscar winner,” he added.
Madison, 26, joined the “Scream” franchise as Amber Freeman, who turns out to be the fifth film’s killer. Dewey is one of her victims.
The actress previously told Collider that she was “naive” going into “Scream 5” and didn’t realize fans would be so enraged about Dewey’s death.
“I remember being kind of sad because I was like, ‘Oh, such a great character. It’ll be sad to see him go,'” she said. “And then I realized afterward the heartbreak that so many people felt.”
“People have come up to me, and they’re like, ‘I hate that this happened. I’m mad at you.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m so sorry, I didn’t write the script! I didn’t want to do it,'” Madison added.
Madison won the Academy Award for Best Actress on March 2 for her role as a stripper in “Anora.” The film won four other Oscars including Best Picture.
Arquette, who is returning for “Scream 7” despite Dewey’s death, told The Post that he hopes Madison isn’t the last Ghostface to win an Academy Award.
“I’d love to see Matthew Lillard get an Oscar at some point. Wes Craven had said that to him at some point,” Arquette shared.
Lillard, 55, played Ghostface in the original “Scream” film. He’s also set to appear in “Scream 7” even though his character died.
“We’re all putting it out there because he deserves it,” Arquette said about Lillard. “He’s a wonderful guy.”
Arquette also told The Post that his role in the next “Scream” movie “was supposed to be a surprise” before Deadline broke the news of his return in March.
“I don’t like spoilers. There’s not much I can talk about it, but I hope people enjoy it,” the actor said.
Arquette’s ex-wife Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Scott Foley are also returning for “Scream 7.”
New cast members include Isabel May, Joel McHale, Ethan Embry, Anna Camp and Mark Consuelos.
Kevin Williamson is directing the film after working on the franchise as a screenwriter.
“Scream 7” will be released in theaters on Feb. 27, 2026.
