Dave Portnoy briefly peeled back the curtain on his love life this week — nearly 12 months after he and gal pal Camryn D’Aloia first made waves.
During a recent appearance on the “Drop a Pin” podcast, the Barstool Sports founder referenced his romance with D’Aloia as he reflected on last summer’s harrowing boat incident in Nantucket, where he and his mom had to be rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard as his vessel was without power.
“I thought about jumping off [the boat] at one point,” Portnoy said.
When the podcast host said, “But your mom was there, too?” Portnoy, 48, then brought up D’Aloia.
“No, originally, it was myself and Cam, the girl I’m dating. I was like, ‘You have to get off and tell somebody, I have no communication.’ So she, before we got too far, dove off and went home and called the harbor master,” he said.
The frightening ordeal transpired in July 2024, three months after Portnoy and D’Aloia first appeared on a TV broadcast of Game 4 of the Celtics’ first-round playoff series against the Heat on April 29.
The buzzy sighting naturally ignited headlines, which Portnoy addressed days later on the “BFFs” podcast.
“Very unfortunate set of circumstances, I’ll say that,” he said. “Because … Well, I’m sensitive still to the fact I’m six months, five-and-a-half months out of a relationship, so being seen on a date or with a girl, it was not what I was trying to do.”
Portnoy was previously involved with influencer Silvana Mojica. Before their breakup in 2023, they took in sporting events together, including Celtics games.
On the “BFFs” podcast, Portnoy detailed that he purchased another set of tickets to evade the spotlight after his on-air cameo with D’Aloia.
“So, we get the f–k out of there. I bought two tickets in real time in different seats and moved just three row a back and out of the way. We did not want to be on camera,” he said.
Prior to his relationships with D’Aloia and Mojica, Portnoy and amicably split from wife Renee in 2017. They initially wed in 2009.
