The TikTok community has lost a beloved member: Dominique McShain.
The content creator died at age 21, one year after she was diagnosed with incurable colon cancer, according to People.
Just weeks earlier, the internet personality—who documented her treatment in hopes of boosting awareness of her illness—shared what she described as her “final update” before her death, explaining that she had entered “end-of-life care.”
“I’ve recently been given a prognosis about five days ago of only a few days to a few weeks to live,” she wrote in a post on Instagram April 6. “My liver is failing rapidly to the point of jaundice and the cancer is progressing quickly. Because of this, I’m no longer able to receive any treatments, including the chemo I’ve been on for seven months over last year.”
E! News has reached out to a rep for Dominique for comment but has not heard back.
Despite the devastating outcome, Dominique highlighted that she had “squeezed every bit out of” her short life, from traveling the world to exchanging vows with her husband Sean Suson in July.
“Of course, there are so many key adult moments I won't get to experience, things I won't get to be or have, and that's something I've had to come to terms with,” she continued. “The grief of what I'm missing out on is no longer overwhelming, though. Recently, I've found a sense of acceptance.

The New Zealand native first shared her diagnosis in April 2024, writing on Instagram that she had been given just one to five years to live and was forced to abruptly halt her university studies to receive treatment. Still, she managed to find purpose in her pain by turning to social media in an effort to help others.
“I wanted to make a difference somehow and leave something behind and hopefully help people,” she said in a video posted on TikTok in May. “I know that cancer is getting a lot more common in the colon for younger people, so I really wanted to eventually share my symptoms and raise awareness so that other people, hopefully, will get to catch it sooner—before [I did].”
