Even as the spotlight on Dave Portnoy has grown brighter, there’s a few things he’d like to keep behind closed doors.
The Barstool head honcho revealed why he’s “rarely” seen with girlfriend Camryn D’Aloia, who is 22 years younger than him, during a recent interview with Daily Mail, published Friday afternoon.
Portnoy — one of sports media’s most polarizing figures — explained that keeping the relationship private was a mutual decision between the two of them, in an effort to shield D’Aloia from the “yo-yos” and “idiots” that he willingly employs.
“She’s rarely with me,” Portnoy, 48, told Daily Mail, with D’Aloia joining him for the interview. “People are nuts, so she doesn’t want to be in the middle of it, and I don’t want her in the middle of it. I have absolute morons who work for me, and if I quit, I don’t know what they’re going to do.
“I’m concerned about people who have been with me for like 15 years and have absolutely no life skills,” he added. “And if Barstool goes away, what happens to these people? Because they’re idiots.
“Some of our guys are charity cases,” he emphasized, “no doubt.”
The couple were first linked in April 2024 after being spotted at a Celtics-Heat NBA Finals game in Miami.
Portnoy confirmed dating rumors one year later.
Aside from a few public appearances together, D’Aloia, 26, has largely avoided the limelight, and her Instagram page is set to private.
Meanwhile, Barstool — often associated with frat culture — has continued its meteoric rise atop the sports media landscape, while almost every aspect of its founder’s life gets caught on camera.
On top of his popular one-bite pizza reviews, Portnoy joined Fox Sports as a personality on the “Big Noon Kickoff” college football pregame show. He also appears on the FS1 morning show, “Wake Up Barstool.”
Last December, Barstool struck an exclusive video podcast deal with Netflix that launched earlier this year.
