Bill Belichick wasn’t the only one uncomfortable with the “CBS Sunday Morning” that aired on Sunday morning this weekend.
Barstool Sports founder and well-known Patriots fan Dave Portnoy said he was “squirming” in his seat when he watched the sitdown between the University of North Carolina football coach and CBS’ Tony Dokoupil, which at times took an awkward turn discussing Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Belichick’s relationship with Jordon Hudson, a woman 49 years his junior.
“My Sunday morning routine is always coffee and CBS Sunday Morning,” Portnoy said in a post on X. “It’s a feel good show. The opposite of controversial. So image my surprise this morning when they had the most awkward Bill Belichick interview I’ve ever seen. Like I was squirming in my seat.”
Portnoy isn’t likely alone in his feelings about the interview, with the sitdown drawing plenty of headlines over the awkwardness at certain points and Hudson’s presence around Belichick for the interview.
Before taking the head coaching job at North Carolina, Belichick had established a Hall of Fame career as an NFL head coach in New England, where he spent 24 years in charge on the sideline and won six Super Bowls.
The two sides went their separate ways following the 2023 NFL season after back-to-back losing campaigns.
Belichick had been on the Sunday morning news magazine program to discuss his new book, “The Art of Winning,” which led to Dokoupil asking about the lack of any mention of Kraft.
That generated the first odd interaction in the segment before things switched gears to his relationship with Hudson.
The 24-year-old stepped in when Belichick was asked how the two met, interjecting from off camera, “He’s not talking about this.”
Her presence was described as “constant” during the interview and in his book, Belichick described her as his “creative muse.”
