Dark Horse Manga has officially revealed the next classic title to join its popular line of Deluxe Editions: Lone Wolf and Cub. The groundbreaking series by writer Kazuo Koike and artist Goseki Kojima will be presented in stunning, oversized hardcover volumes—starting with Lone Wolf and Cub Deluxe Edition Volume 1, set to hit bookstores on December 9, 2025, and comic shops on December 10.

The new Deluxe Edition line has become a favorite among manga and graphic novel collectors for its high-quality design, larger trim size, and faithful presentation. Lone Wolf and Cub will receive the same treatment, showcasing the iconic samurai saga in its original right-to-left reading format and featuring original Japanese sound effects. The English translation is by Dana Lewis, with lettering by Studio Cutie.

First published in the 1970s, the series is widely regarded as one of the most influential manga of all time. The story follows Ogami Itto, the former shogun’s executioner, who is framed for treason and forced into exile. With his infant son Daigoro in tow, he sets out on the path of the ronin, seeking vengeance across a brutal and unforgiving feudal Japan.

Lone Wolf and Cub Deluxe Edition Volume 1 collects material originally found in the first two volumes of the Dark Horse paperback edition, as well as stories from Volume 3. Volume 2, set to release on March 24, 2026 (bookstores) and March 25 (comic shops), will continue the collection with stories from Volumes 3–5.

With its masterful storytelling, visceral artwork, and deep philosophical undercurrents, Lone Wolf and Cub remains a towering achievement in manga history. The new Deluxe Editions offer both longtime fans and newcomers the perfect way to experience this samurai epic in its most visually striking form yet.

Each Deluxe Edition will contain 720 pages and measure 7” x 10”, retailing for $54.99 USD. Pre-orders are available now through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org, and local comic shops.
