Danica Patrick claimed in a new interview that her relationship with Aaron Rodgers was so “emotionally abusive” that it wore her “down to nothing.”
“People could never imagine that I would lack … any confidence or belief in the simple things about who I am,” the ex-race car driver shared on “The Sage Steele Show” Wednesday. “Everything was torn to bits.”
She added of Rodgers, 41, “Yeah, he leaves a trail of blood.”
Patrick then noted that she didn’t think her remarks were “earth-shattering stuff” because there’s been “enough out there.”
The pro athlete, 43, admitted that while she was in the relationship, she failed to see many red flags.
“I ignored it, but in real life, it was just like … I would say all the time, ‘I’m built for hard things. I can handle hard things,’ and so I just saw it as a hard thing,” she said. “And my nature is to try harder and do more.”
Patrick did not go into much detail as to how Rodgers was allegedly emotionally abusive. Page Six has reached out to his reps for comment but did not immediately hear back.
The former couple dated for two years before breaking up in July 2020. Patrick’s rep confirmed to us at the time they were “no longer together.”
The IndyCar Series champ told host Sage Steele the split was “the most amount of pain” she ever felt because “it was sudden.”
“When you live with somebody, it’s your whole life,” she further explained.
A month after the breakup, Patrick took to social media to share she was practicing an “emotional therapy” workout that helps heal by “moving the body, breath, and acknowledging what comes up.”
In retrospect, the former NASCAR driver told Steele, 52, the end of the relationship gave her “the greatest gift,” which is herself.
“It gave me the greatest gift of how much I needed to show up for myself and take care of myself,” she added.

Rodgers, for his part, has publicly said that he thought his romance with Patrick was “good” for him.

After Patrick, Rodgers went on to date Shailene Woodley but the couple called it quits in 2022 after a year-long engagement. The NFL star reportedly now has a new girlfriend named Brittani.
Patrick, for her part, dated Freshly co-founder Carter Comstock for about a year, but they split in 2022.
