The Dallas Stars have acquired defenseman Tyler Myers from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a second-round pick in 2027 and a fourth-round pick in 2029, General Manager Jim Nill announced Tuesday.

"Tyler is a veteran defenseman that will immediately add to our group," Nill said. "His ability to play on the right side will give us an added element of flexibility on the blueline. We would like to welcome Tyler and his family to Dallas."

Vancouver will retain 50 percent of Myers' contract for the duration of the deal. It gives him a $1.5 million cap hit for the Stars for the remainder of this season and the 2026-27 season.

Over 17 NHL seasons with Buffalo, Winnipeg and Vancouver, Myers has appeared in 1,123 regular-season games, accumulating 403 points (100-303—403). Among active defensemen, he ranks seventh in games played and tied for 27th in points.

Myers gives Dallas an experienced, right-shot presence on the blue line at a critical point in the season. The 36-year-old has logged 20:13 of ice time per game this season, while ranking third on the team in shorthanded time on ice per game at 2:45. He has posted eight points (1-7—8) in 57 games in 2025-26.

The acquisition carries a notable storyline for the franchise. Myers was born in Houston, Texas, and when he takes the ice for Dallas, he will become the first player in Stars history born in Texas to appear in a regular-season game.

The 6-foot-8, 229-pound defenseman was originally selected by the Buffalo Sabres 12th overall in the first round of the 2008 NHL Draft.
