Dak Prescott gives worrying update on Cowboys "identity" after Denver loss

3 hours ago 2

The Dallas Cowboys slumped to a 44-24 loss that continues the streak of Brian Schottenheimer's team not being able to string together multiple wins this season.

At 3-4-1, the Cowboys are now back under .500 after yet another inept defensive performance and, oddly enough, a poor offensive performance as well. Self-inflicted wounds, poor play, and coaching all led to the Cowboys being handed their fourth defeat in brutal fashion on the road.

Considering how up-and-down Dallas has been through eight weeks now, Dak Prescott, when discussing the team's identity, gave a worrying answer.

“You want to put a streak together, and talking about identity, it's hard to even give you an identity until we put a couple of games together in a row,” Prescott said. “Right now, our identity is up and down, and that's not anything I'm proud of, not anything anybody in that locker room should be proud of. Our identity right now is inconsistent, and that's unacceptable."

Cowboys suffering identity crisis?

In truth, we know what Dallas' identity is, don't we?

An offense that is so elite it can beat anyone, but having a defense that is so poor means it can lose to anyone. That's it. Simple.

The hard part for Dak and Co. is that they have to be nearly perfect because the defense struggles to get stops, let alone takeaways.

Against Denver, after the early interception, Dallas got a field goal, but the Broncos' offense marched right down the field on the next possession for a touchdown. The Cowboys then punted, and Denver then marched and scored a touchdown.

Suddenly, Dallas is down 14-3, and the game is already getting away from you.

There is no quick fix for this defense, and Brian Schottenheimer's offense is going to have to do all the heavy lifting, and in the games they can't, you get a result like 44-24.
