Dak Prescott caught in heated exchange as Cowboys-Saints practice brawl erupts

Joint practices are supposed to sharpen two rosters before the games actually count, giving coaches a look at competition beyond their own locker room. Tuesday's session between the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints in Oxnard turned into something closer to a fight card.

Quarterback Dak Prescott found himself in the middle of the chaos, visibly animated and gesturing at players from both sides as the practice spiraled through repeated skirmishes.

A roughly 31-second clip captured Prescott walking through groups of players, talking intensely and gesturing before what appeared to be a handshake with a Saints player. The video did not include clear audio, but reports describe him exchanging words with Saints edge rusher Chase Young during one of at least six separate altercations.

The clip, posted by The Athletic's Jon Machota with the caption "Dak Prescott not happy about something," quickly circulated among Cowboys and Saints fans reacting to the intensity.

The physical play started early, when Saints tight end Brock Rechsteiner, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner, body-slammed a Cowboys defender to the turf during one scuffle.

Cowboys outside linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku was ejected for throwing punches, His second removal from a practice this offseason after a similar incident earlier in training camp.

"A little chippy," head coach Brian Schottenheimer told reporters. "Not the way we like to do business. Got to be better." He added, "We're certainly not going to take s- from anybody."

Cowboys safety claims they came out on top in the fight

Safety Jalen Thompson offered a blunt take when asked whether the Cowboys came out ahead. Dallas' broader camp storylines this month, and Thompson's answer fit right in. "Of course we did," Thompson said. "Come on now."

Coaches Schottenheimer and Kellen Moore reportedly discussed ending the session early, before ultimately letting the teams work through the disruptions.

The two teams meet again in the preseason on August 28, giving both sides a chance to settle whatever carried over from Tuesday's session under actual game conditions.
